Welland speedway championships!!
Saturday at the Niagara motorcycle raceway saw the biggest event of the speedway calender in Canada. The Canadian speedway championship sees the newest rider pitted against the seasoned, the long time established against the once a year racer. The enthusiastic crowd was treated to some of the best racing seen at the Welland track this season. With several past champions on show the cool evening was set to heat up when the riders hit the track. Jeff Orosz, Caister centre, Aaron Hesmer, Brantford, Joe heye, Langton and Chris Hesmer, Brantford were all capable of winning the final. After the early rounds all these riders had established a good collection of points and took there places in the two semi finals to send two riders from each to the grand final. Orosz, A. Hesmer, C. Hesmer and Terry Rideout lined up for the final race of the night. Orosz exploded out of the start and never looked back as the Hesmer brothers struggled for traction and speed. With the crowd on their feet Orosz crossed the line to win with Aaron and Chris Hesmer then Terry Rideout in that order. Mother nature complemented the work of the track staff with a sprinkle of rain in the hours before the races and made a good track into a great track. Thanks to all concerned. Next week sees the season finale at the track with all classes on show.
