Big win and great night for Kyle!!
SHEFFIELD PIRTEK TIGERS produced their best performance of the season to crush title hopefuls Rye House 64-30 at Owlerton. Going into the meeting they needed to win by more than 29-points to secure the aggregate bonus point - and they achieved it with a thrilling finish. Going into the final four heats the Rockets trailed 45-25 on the night but held a nine point advantage for the bonus. The Tigers pulled two back as Ricky Ashworth sped from second to pass Tommy Allen and then the lively Kyle Legault overtook Brent Werner to give them a fighting chance. A 5-1 from Andre Compton and Sean Wilson then put them in the frame, before a spectacular heat 14 put them ahead on aggregate for the first time. Tigers had been on for a 4-2 before the race was stopped on the second lap when Allen fell - and in the restart Daniel King shot from the tapes and looked set for a crucial win, but his bike ground to a halt on the last bend and allowed Richard Hall and Legault in for another heat maximum. It meant Sheffield needed to at least draw heat 15,(for the aggregate point) but Compton made an amazing burst from last to first while Sean Wilson claimed second to spark jubilant scenes on the terraces.
