Kyle in form at Sheffield
SHEFFIELD PIRTEK TIGERS took a big step towards the Young Shield semi-finals with a 57-37 demolition of Edinburgh at Owlerton. Skipper Sean Wilson was in magnificent form with a 15-point maximum and both Andre Compton and Ricky Ashworth were unbeaten by an opposing rider to give Tigers a handy lead for the return leg. But it was only a flurry of points in the last four races that boosted their hopes, after a tenacious start by the Monarchs, who suffered the hammer blow of losing star man Ross Brady after just two rides with a recurrent ankle injury. Tigers led by just eight points after 11 races, with just one 5-1 in the bag. But after that it was one-way traffic as Sheffield won all four remaining races, including three five-point hauls. TIGERS: Sean Wilson 15, Andre Compton 13+2, Ricky Ashworth 12, Kyle Legault 8+1, Richard Hall 5+2, Ben Wilson 2, Mark Thompson 2. EDINBURGH: Theo Pijper 10, Daniel Nermark 9+1, Rusty Harrison 9, Matthew Wethers 5+1, William Lawson 2+2, Ross Brady 2, Robert Ksiezak 0.
