Tigers win but Kyle crashes!!

SHEFFIELD PIRTEK TIGERS boosted their chances of a top three Premier League finish, on Thursday evening, with a hard fought 48-41 over Berwick at Sheffield. The result also confirms Rye House as champions as the Bandits have now completed their 28 league meetings and are still short of the Rockets points tally. The meeting was overshadowed by an horrific crash in Heat 7 when, the vastly experienced Dane, Tom P Madsen went underneath Tigers youngster Benji Compton and both riders hit the safety fence at high speed before being thrown like rag dolls across the track. Early reports suggest Compton could have a pelvic injury and Madsen was complaining of leg damage and was taken to hospital also wearing a neck brace. Kyle Legault, another member of Sheffield's young guns, was also involved in a horrifying crash in heat 2 when trying to avoid the fallen Compton and he was sent head over heels before crashing to the ground. He managed to complete four races before pulling out of the meeting. Sheffield never looked like losing the match despite the best efforts of their former favourite Scott Smith, riding at reserve for the border club. TIGERS: Ricky Ashworth 11, Andre Compton 10+1, Sean Wilson 8, Ben Wilson 8, Richard Hall 6+3, Kyle Legault 5, Benji Compton 0. BERWICK: Scott Smith 14+2, Paul Thorp 10, Adam Pietraszko 10, Mikal Makovsky 3, Chris Schramm 2+1, Carl Wilkinson 1+1, Tom P Madsen 1.
