Racing at Action Park a possibility for '06??

There is starting to be a possibility that there may be some races at Action
Park East this summer. I have gone out and along with the help of Dale
Holden secured nearly all of the rent money from sponsors in order to allow
someone an opportunity to promote races there this year. At this point we
are only $2,500.00 short but will continue to keep striving. Signboards can
be purchased for the crashwall for as little as $100.00.
Providing we reach our financial goal, I have had strong discussion with a
group, headed by 1987 US Open Champion Tom Burge, that is willing to promote
the events. A plan for a 6-8 event schedule that would start in mid June and
run nearly every other Saturday is in the works. Racing would include
Division One and Support Speedway, Quads, Flat Track,Youth Classes and
possibly a Go-Kart Class. I have found a person who is willing to help us
and provide a bunch of new Clay to help get the track as smooth as Champion
and Batavia.
Three things must happen quickly in order for this to become reality...
We need to raise the remaining funds. It doesn't matter where or who it
comes from but I feel as though I have done a very generous thing by doing
most of the work myself and offering to lease the track to someone with the
rent already covered. It is time for some of the riders and interested
parties to do some work on it also. It should be a very easy goal to reach.
Tom or I need to hear from riders who plan to race to see what sort of
support Tom will have for this. He can be reached at 607 687 5131 or I can
be called at 585 723-9746. Riders who owe me money or have family members
who owe me money need not call until your debts are paid.
Tom will need the help of some riders, fans or supporters to help do some
clean-up, painting and mowing at the track and to help do several
advertising flier campaigns around the local neighborhoods. This should be
very little to ask to give back in return for having speedway continue in
some fashion locally. Anyone who ignores this message thinking that they
will just wait for speedway at Champion Speedway will be foolish...there are
NOT any plans for speedway at Champion now or any time soon. The facility is
going to be used for other things now so I strongly urge anyone who wants to
race or see speedway to help make Action Park happen for this year.
Thank You,
Jason Bonsignore
