Weather concerns unfounded as great racing prevails!!
With many heavy rain clouds looming the distance, a good field of speedway riders got ready to ride on an excellent track! The Division 2/3 were combined due to numbers which gave some good close racing with some of the division 3 riders getting a chance against the higher division riders. George Lavender was flying around the track and was only held back in the final race by a fast composed Corrine Franic and Terry Rideout. Corrine had fallen in an earlier race and needed to do some work on her bike to get it working ok, and this certainly worked for her and she won very well. Congratulations to Corrine! The Division 1 guys were all on fire, with a fired up Phil Small arriving at the track to ride the absent Michael Small's laydown, Phil decided to change the gearing to suit him better, but was caught out by the track. He unfortunately, suffered because of this continually throughout the night, and his personal goals were not met! He did however become a star through providing Joe Heye with both a bike and front wheel for Joe's bike, after Joe had a huge spectacular crash alongside Gary Hesmer on the front straight. Joe was pushing so hard that he clipped Gary along the straight and his bike took off and Joe ended up doing cartwheels along the track. Joe got straight up and Phil Small offered his bike in replacement for a battered one of his own. Sadly though, with the different set-up Phil had, Joe slid out on the first corner of the restart that Gary Hesmer won well. Phil loaned Joe his front wheel off his Weslake to get his own bike on the track for the remainder of the meeting, which saw Joe win well on his next outing!Rob Dixon was so close to taking the highlight of the night off Joe Heye, Rob was flat out coming out of turn 4 and suddenly, he caught up and did a 360 on the front straight and held on to finish the race it was amazing to watch! Throughout the night Jeff Orosz and Gary Hesmer rode hard and strong, and battled against each other that gave the crowd, some nail biting moments! But the real 'Highlight of the night' was the return to the track of a past Canadian Champion, Chris Hesmer. Aaron Hesmer's older brother looked as if the few years away was like a day away! He was superb! One heat in a battle with Jeff Orosz, he was side by side for 3-1/2 laps before powering away to win! It was also a great thing for Aaron to ride against his brother and beat him in the Final race of the night! The final event of Division 1 was also a cracker, the first corner was the best and noisiest we have seen all season! Aaron Hesmer, Joe Heye and Jeff Orosz went into the corner together and all you could hear was the bikes banging together, it was amazing stuff! Aaron pushed his was passed hard to get and hold the lead with Jeff, Joe and Chris Hesmer finishing in that order.
