Stoke vs Sheffield sat 26th march
Following a 25-point advantage from Thursday's meeting at Owlerton it was always going to take a major disaster for Tigers not to take the extra point. Stoke took the lead with a 5-1 in Heat 3 from Alan Mogridge and Robbie Kessler and extended it in Heat 6, Andre Compton just managing to split Mogridge and Paul Clews to prevent another maximum heat advantage. When Compton suffered engine failure on the start line of Heat 9, another Mogridge/Kessler 5-1 gave the Potters a 12-point advantage, but their progress was halted first when Clews ground to a halt in Heat 10 and then when Sean Wilson took a double-points second place from Heat 11.Compton's tactical ride was far less successful as he ran a surprising last place in Heat 13, a race in which saw Jan Staechmann take a win to confirm Stoke's victory on the night. The Potters stretched further clear in the closing heats with the impressive Mogridge - unbeaten bar a second-ride fall - teaming up with Rob Grant for a shock 5-1 in Heat 14.But there was an unfortunate end to the meeting when Sean Wilson tangled with Staechmann in the last race. Wilson was excluded and Staechmann unable to take his place in the re-run, so Mogridge headed home the lively Richard Hall and reserve replacement Barrie Evans to round off the night. STOKE: Alan Mogridge 14+1, Jan Staechmann 14, Robbie Kessler 12+2, Barrie Evans 6+2, Paul Clews 5+1, Rob Grant 4, r/r for Paul Pickering. SHEFFIELD: Sean Wilson 11, Richard Hall 8+1, Ben Wilson 5+2, Andre Compton 5, Paul Cooper 4+1, Ricky Ashworth 3, Kyle Legault 1+1. Next action is Thursday 31st March at home to Edinburgh, 7.45 gmt(2.45est) Read Kyle's comments on the meeting in "comments.
