Sheffield win at home...

ANDRE Compton scored his third successive full maximum at Owlerton as the Pirtek Tigers moved back into the Premier League's top three. Compton blasted to five straight wins to head a solid performace from the home side, with Workington struggling to provide enough heat winners to mount a challenge. Reserves Paul Cooper and Kyle Legault set the ball rolling with a 5-1 in a re-run Heat 2 after new Comets signing Tomasz Piszcz had been excluded, and the fast-improving Legault then defeated British prospect James Wright for another 5-1 in Heat 4. After Heat 7 Tigers held a 14-point lead, but Shaun Tacey managed to pull three back by winning a tactical ride in the next race. However, the home side then piled on the pressure with a 5-1 and a 4-2 in the next two races seeing them establish total control, Sean Wilson reeling in and passing Kauko Nieminen on the final lap of Heat 10. The second tactical ride saw guest Stuart Robson take four points after he had been eclipsed by Compton in Heat 11, and Tigers then produced a strong finish which could be important when they travel to Workington for the return fixture. There was a scare in Heat 14 when Cooper fell and Richard Hall managed to lay down his machine to avoid him, but the home fans were able to enjoy 5-1s in both Heat 13 and 15 as Compton and Sean Wilson got the better of the ever-trying Robson to open up a 23-point winning margin. SHEFFIELD: Andre Compton 15, Ricky Ashworth 11, Sean Wilson 10+4, Ben Wilson 6, Kyle Legault 6+3, Richard Hall 6+2, Paul Cooper 3. WORKINGTON: Stuart Robson 11, Shaun Tacey 11, Kauko Nieminen 6+1, Tomasz Piszcz 4, James Wright 3, Benji Compton 1, r/r for Scott Robson.
