TIGERS GO TOP (OF LEAGUE) AFTER CLOSE CALL

SHEFFIELD Pirtek Tigers are top of the Premier League after their hard fought 48-45 win over Somerset Rebels at Owlerton on Thursday night.
Reg Wilson's men were given their toughest home test of the season by a gutsy Rebels outfit but did enough to secure the win on the night and the aggregate bonus point courtesy of their win in Highbridge earlier this month.
Skipper Andre Compton looked set for another full house before trailing in last in heat 15 - thankfully by this stage Tigers were just about home and dry.
Visiting boss Mick Bell did well with his tactical moves and his riders responded with a solid display which gave title hopefuls Sheffield a scare.
The meeting also served up some of the best racing seen at Owlerton this season and Somerset deserve credit for that as they refused to let the home side run away with proceedings.
TIGERS: Andre Compton 12, Ricky Ashworth 11+2, Ben Wilson 9+1, Kyle Legault 6+1, Emiliano Sanchez 5+2, Paul Cooper 4, Benji Compton 1.
SOMERSET: Paul Fry 15+1, Magnus Zetterstrom 10, Ben Barker 7, Glenn Cunningham 6, Glen Phillips 4+3, Stephan Katt 2+2, Simon Walker 1.
