Second event at Paris..
A big rider turnout and a fair size crowd enjoyed some great racing on a very unseasonably cold Friday night! Our regular announcer Chris Howes, had taken a well deserved family break to Florida, which left David Hensby taking over the microphone for the night! The bikes were finding the first few heats a little challenging with the cooler temperatures, but once they warmed up, so did the heats! Division 3 saw some great riding from newcomer George Lavender, he rode solidly throughout the night and was the very pleased and proud to accept his bottle of champagne following his final win over Graham Wale and Peter Fornal. Division 2 had an interesting twist to it, Corrine Franic and her boyfriend Terry Rideout were matched against each other all night. They had one race where Terry cut under Corinne and she came out the winner after Terry was left flat on his back on corner 2! The battled all night even down to the final, where Terry powered past Corrine to take the checkered flag! Notable mention must be made of a smooth looking Tim Murray, he was sliding well and looking very confident. Division 1 was the highlight of the night for the cold and patient fans. Very close racing throughout, gave the crowd some heart-stopping moments especially when Aaron Hesmer shot passed Bobby Muszynski right on the line! Gary Hesmer and Aaron DeVeau both made their 2006 debuts with a solid performance. The final event was a cracker from the spectator point of view! Bobby Muszynski, Aaron Hesmer, Jeff Orosz & Joe Heye lined up to start the final. From the gate Bobby & Aaron flew out and bumped both Joe and Jeff. They tussled and Joe came off corner 2, hit Bobby, he managed to stay on somehow and Joe Heye ended up smacking into the boards really hard and he tumbled down the back straight. The ambulance was out to check on Joe who rarely falls, and after a check of his right leg, he was up and ready to go again! On the restart, Aaron got in front of Bobby on turn one and pulled away by corner 2, little did he know that Bobby's bike had gone bad, Jeff zoomed by Bobby, as did a 15 yard penalty positioned Joe. Bobby retired from the race as Aaron pulled away from the charging Jeff Orosz. Despite his battered body and a 15 penalty, Joe was only a bike length behind Jeff upon the checkered flag being waved!A great, but cold night was enjoyed by all and we all look forward to next Friday for round 2!
