Aaron Hesmer wins Paris and Welland!!
Friday night at the CKPC Paris Speedway event, was met with a beautiful night of sunshine. The large crowd was entertained all night with some great close racing, that had everyone on the edge of their seats!
With the added attraction of the Vintage Bikes located in the fairgrounds, the crowd was larger than expected.
Katalin Davis made the trip up from the USA to take on Corinne Franic. Katalin got a run for her money in Corinne's partner - Terry Rideout. Terry had some great races with Katalin and came out the winner of the final D2 event!
The Division 1 heats were all action and there were a few scary moments as the track took a while to settle down. Jeff Orosz went down while chasing Aaron Hesmer after missing his grip on the handlebars, he was quickly up to catch a struggling Gary Hesmer. Gary was having a tough time in his first 2 rides, with his bike not doing what he wanted. After a few changes though, he took off and had some good tussles and even beat his cousin Aaron Hesmer!
Aaron Hesmer was chasing Gary hard and bounced hard into the boards coming out of turn 2, but held on well to avoid any disaster. Chris, Aaron's Brother, also went down hard on turn 3 and withdrew from the night's event.
The final was a close 2 lap affair until Joe Heye locked up on turn 4 and Jeff Orosz went under him to get second place behind a flying #12 Aaron Hesmer! Fred Legault came in to round up the final field and top off a great night of racing in Paris!
The Main A Final, at Welland, was set to be a good one - Aaron Hesmer, Joe Heye, Jeff Orosz, John Kehoe and Rob Dixon all took their assigned places on the starting gate. From the gate, Aaron Hesmer took a good firm lead and held it too the end, but the best pass was John Kehoe on Joe heye, Joe thinking that John was outside him moved over to take the line and John zoomed inside to safely get his spot.
