Rain date news!!

PRESS RELEASE - JULY 22 2008 - Remaining Welland Races
With the two cancellations of both the Flat Track National and Canadian Speedway National a hard decision was made with only two future race days in place and we see no fair way to have a National for either disciplines with all other races factored in.
In conjunction with the CMA, the two dates have been set for the remaining two events. Saturday July 26th will be a regular program night, but will also be run under association with NAMU for the American Riders. The event will provide exciting racing from Flat Track, Junior, ATV and Speedway classes.
The second date will be Saturday September 6th, this will be the seasonal Fall classic event for the Club! This will NOT be a NAMU event!!!! - Again, all classes will be invited to participate in the night's fun.
Regular purse payout's are in effect for both events.
Information regarding the award of the 2008 Flat Track National plate will be presented at this coming Saturday's event.
There will be no racing on the original rain date of August 2nd!
The Welland County Motorcycle would like to thank you for your patience and understanding regarding the recent cancellations and the forced cancellation of the National events.
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday!

Faces of disappointment!! '08 National rains out!!

The Niagara motorcycle raceways' Canadian speedway national was rained out on Saturday 19th July! Following prolonged steady rain the referee Ian March called the event off at 6 pm. With approximatley 20 riders expected to attend, the call was made as late in the day as possible.(The W.C.M.C. board of directors meets on Monday 21st July to decide on the use of the remaining dates to run the rainned out events.)

Unfortunatly this did not help the American riders that made the 5 hour trip from the Binghampton area. Jason and his father Gene Bonsigniore, Mike Buman, Katlin Davies, Shawn McConnell and Shaun Harmatiuk, amongst others, made the long trip and were greeted with southern Ontarios finest rain. Shawn "Mad dog" Mcconnel had won the East USA Genesee County Fair Norm Robinson Championship‏, the previous night in Batavia and was ready for some Canadian action, before heading back to race at Owego on Sunday night. Despite the fact that only 2 Californian riders made the long trip up, spirits were high in the Welland motorcycle clubhouse after the races were called off. The U.S. guests are pictured above relaxing and watching the '07 races on the clubs big screen tv. L-R. Shawn McConnell. Gene Bonsignore, Jason Bonsignore, Shaun Harmatiuk and Mike Buman.
