Mother nature strikes again!!

The heavens were not kind to Paris Speedway tonight!Upon the arrival of many riders and fans alike, the sky opened up and with a lovely blend of torrential rain, gusty winds and lightening all around, the meeting was sadly canceled. Our sincere thanks is offered to all the riders and fans who made the effort to come tonight, especially our American friends who traveled for many hours only to be faced with the long return journey without any riding action. It was great to see the huge rider turnout and this is very encouraging for the meeting next week. Many thanks again to everyone and we hope to see you all again next week at 8:00!!!!

Not long now!!

There are 3 days until 2005 Paris Opening Night!
Today's final pre-season practice session was a perfect one in many ways. Beautiful weather, a great track and a superb turnout topped the day! Many new faces have been appearing and they are getting better and better each week. We will have alot of action guaranteed from these guys! Young Michael Small looked smooth again today despite a few tumbles. Our very dear friend Bob Mosquera drove up from Michigan to enjoy a good outing. He is trying different things and so far so good, his style has changed and he is looking very smooth. Jeff Orosz was also in attendance, Jeff's bike let him down, but his good friend Tim Murray was first to offer his bike to 'Jumping' Jeff for some excellent laps. His day was highlighted with some very close tussles with Joe Heye who looks like he is on fire this year!Mark Priebe was back into the groove, as was "Big" John Perry. Both rode well and looked like they will cause some trouble this year for the other riders! Team Hesmer was in attendance and all looked good, Gary had some bike troubles, but hopefully will be able to rectify these before this coming Friday. Nick Fafard looked very fast and will definitely be a force in 2005.It was nice to see Corinne Franic coming off the line faster than Aaron Hesmer!!! She will be starting the season in D2 which should fit her well. Our veterans, or should we say seasoned riders, Graham Wale and Tom Brown were also having a blast on the track, great to see!The best thing as a CSRA member, spectator and lover of our great sport was to see and enjoy the camaraderie of all the riders today. The help and advice given to each other is always welcomed, and the pure spirit of everyone being there for the love of this sport is very evident in the thrill and enjoyment that is seen. We wish each and every rider a safe and exciting 2005 season. Our enjoyment of their skills will once again be enjoyed every Friday night at 8:00 pm starting this coming Friday night!!! Looks like it will be the best season yet! - ENJOY!!!!!

School a success despite weather..

A decision was left to the last minute to run the May 14th trainning school at Paris. It turned out to be the right decision after the top 2-3 inches was skimmed off by a very skillfull tractor driver in the guise of ex multi award winning Len Dillon. The (too many to remember) national championship title holder was on hand to help with track preparation and rider encouragement. Also on hand was Aarron Hesmer, John Perry, Fred and Kyle Legault, John Bennett, Phil Small and of course Stan Bradbury. At 11.00 am, the scheduled start time for the school, the track was almost unwalkable. Rider briefing took place and after extensive work by Dave Havill and Len, riders hit the track at around 1.20pm. The St. Johns ambulance crew's eyebrows only raised once after krys looped hard while trying a start on a very, very grippy surface. This didn't stop him making great gains during the day. As did all the other 5 riders. At 5.30 pm John Bennett sparked the B-B-Q and everyone enjoyed burgers and hot dogs etc. All except Len Dillon!! By this time , Len had found himself a newer, bigger and stronger John Deere and was busy at work dragging, back onto the track, all the surface that had been removed earlier. While we all hid in the trailer and enjoyed the food and Johns culinary skills, Len, studiously prepped the track in the pouring rain ready for Sundays practice. We did, however, ferry burgers out to him from time to time. Great job Len!!! Thanks to everyone for a good and safe school. 2004 stats are now available from Duncan luke @ $12.00 while supplies last.

Kyle shows up to help encourage new riders!

An out of sorts but not downhearted, Kyle Legault, showed up at Paris for the May 14th trainning school.

MESSAGE FROM KYLE!

Hello Speedway fans. It is nice to be back home in Canada recovering from my very unfortunate accident after heat 14 in Workington. The meeting was going really well but I was having a really hard time finding grip in the corners. The track was so fast and slick that I was going into the corner so hard and the bike was just skating all the way to the fence every turn. After talking to my mechanic we decided that we were going to change the needle setting in the carb. This was allowing way too much fuel to be dumped into the engine. I was running second with Richy Ashworth in first on a tack, on the last corner I drifted wide and the Workington rider got under me as we drag raced to the finish line. I was trying to slow the bike down going into the first bend when I hit a massive hole in the track which caused the bike to launch with the throttle stuck open, I let go of the bike as it hit the fence and it then landed on my foot which broke the right talous. I am really disappointed to be out and missing out on this year’s world under 21. I had very big goals that I was determined to achieve on may 21st in Austria. I head back to England on June 3rd where I will then spend a full week training at Scunthrope everyday while attending physio therapy. I am aiming to ride on the June 16th as Sheffield takes on Somerset. I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow at the Andy Harris Speedway school. I will be there to giving whatever help I can to all the riders. Take care, ride smart and stay off the white line….. Kyle

Kyle released from hospital

Kyle was released from white Haven hospital in England on Thursday. He will go to recover at a team mates house for the time being. A sports cast will be fitted soon so he can , possibly, return home to Canada for a well earned break. This will be subject to a doctors check up to ensure correct healing of the bone and good blood supply to it. This will allow him to celebrate his 20th birthday with his family on the 30th May. Meanwhile Sheffield have made a temporary signing in Aussie Trevor Harding to cover Kyle's untimely loss after his accident.
