Tigers win 50-40

The Sheffield big guns Andre Compton and Sean Wilson guided the Tigers to a hard fought win over Edinburgh at Owlerton, tonight.
The duo dropped just one-point between them... when Wilson missed out to ex-Tiger Ross Brady in his second outing.
Edinburgh held a shock 37-35 lead after 12 races in a meeting which was delayed by 20-minutes to allow extra track work after torrential rain in the city.
Compton and Wilson - who was handed a second chance after jumping at the start - put Tigers back in front with a 5-1 in Heat 13.
Impressive Edinburgh reserve Robert Kseizak crashed heavily in the penultimate race and in the re-run Tigers duo Ricky Ashworth and Paul Cooper gained another big 5-1 which put the match beyond Edinburgh's reach.
Wilson and Compton combined again in Heat 15 with a superb display of team riding to give the scoreline a more emphatic appearance.
TIGERS. Andre Compton 15, Sean Wilson 12+2, Ricky Ashworth 9+1, Paul Cooper 6, Richard Hall 3+2, Ben Wilson 3+1, Kyle Legault 2+1.
EDINBURGH: Rusty Harrison 10, Ross Brady 9, Theo Pijper 7+1, Robert Ksiezak 6+2, Daniel Nermark 3+1, William Lawson 3, Cameron Woodward 2+1.

Stoke vs Sheffield sat 26th march

Following a 25-point advantage from Thursday's meeting at Owlerton it was always going to take a major disaster for Tigers not to take the extra point. Stoke took the lead with a 5-1 in Heat 3 from Alan Mogridge and Robbie Kessler and extended it in Heat 6, Andre Compton just managing to split Mogridge and Paul Clews to prevent another maximum heat advantage. When Compton suffered engine failure on the start line of Heat 9, another Mogridge/Kessler 5-1 gave the Potters a 12-point advantage, but their progress was halted first when Clews ground to a halt in Heat 10 and then when Sean Wilson took a double-points second place from Heat 11.Compton's tactical ride was far less successful as he ran a surprising last place in Heat 13, a race in which saw Jan Staechmann take a win to confirm Stoke's victory on the night. The Potters stretched further clear in the closing heats with the impressive Mogridge - unbeaten bar a second-ride fall - teaming up with Rob Grant for a shock 5-1 in Heat 14.But there was an unfortunate end to the meeting when Sean Wilson tangled with Staechmann in the last race. Wilson was excluded and Staechmann unable to take his place in the re-run, so Mogridge headed home the lively Richard Hall and reserve replacement Barrie Evans to round off the night. STOKE: Alan Mogridge 14+1, Jan Staechmann 14, Robbie Kessler 12+2, Barrie Evans 6+2, Paul Clews 5+1, Rob Grant 4, r/r for Paul Pickering. SHEFFIELD: Sean Wilson 11, Richard Hall 8+1, Ben Wilson 5+2, Andre Compton 5, Paul Cooper 4+1, Ricky Ashworth 3, Kyle Legault 1+1. Kyle back from ice races in Holland

Just grabbed a few brief words with Kyle in England on M.S.N. Had a great weekend in Holland and said about the ice races, "They were the best races I have ever seen!" I asked if he was looking forward to the team practice on wednesday and he said, "Yes, I expect the track will be like glue" Is that how they set it up for the home meetings? he said, "Yes." Fred arrives at Manchester airport tommorrow morning and Kyle is set to meet him there. Look for new pics of Kyle on his web site and here too after the Wed practice. Next meeting is Thursday at home vs Hull Vikings in the return leg of the Yorkshire challenge cup. Kyle said, "14 points shouldn't be too hard to make up!"

Yorkshire Cup
The tapes go up on the 2005 season for the Hull 'CPD' Vikings tonight and one man who can't wait is Joel Parsons.Local rivals Sheffield Tigers are the visitors to Craven Park for the first leg of the Yorkshire Cup and Parsons is looking forward to sampling that special derby atmosphere. "I've heard a lot about the Yorkshire Cup but have never been involved with it before now!" he said."We've got to go into both meetings in a positive frame of mind."The atmosphere when we rode against Sheffield last season was great and as riders we can hear and appreciate it."The meeting at their place when we won the bonus point was something special and that kind of atmosphere really does make you want to go out there and perform."As regards the 2005 season in general, Parsons is looking forward to building on the progress he made last year. The young Australian was a key member of the Vikings' treble-winning side and is keen to help them defend all three trophies."I'm looking forward to it," he added. "I was doing a lot of work at the mines when I went home and have managed to get some new equipment together."To be honest, I was ready to come back and do another year as soon as last season finished."We'll be trying to defend what we've won and I've just got to go out there and do the business."* Hull CPD Vikings v Sheffield Pirtek Tigers, Wednesday March 9, Craven Park 7:30pm Hull: Paul Thorp, Emiliano Sanchzez, Lee Dicken, Emil Kramer, Garry Stead, Joel Parsons, Craig Branney. First meeting in uk for Kyle Legault

THE Pirtek Tigers slipped to a 15-point defeat in their first meeting of the season on a freezing night at Shielfield Park, but that final margin represented a recovery from a disastrous opening. Berwick started the Premier Trophy clash in inspired form and reeled off four consecutive 5-1s in the opening four heats to take a 20-4 lead before skipper Sean Wilson got the Tigers on the board with a win in Heat 5. New Bandits signing Joachim Kugelmann won his first three races before coming to grief in Heat 8 and being hit by Kyle Legault, the German withdrawing from his remaining rides with muscular damage. A 4-2 in the re-run of Heat 8, followed by a tactical ride win from Andre Compton, saw Tigers reduce the deficit to seven points, but Berwick re-established control with a 5-1 in the following race. Paul Cooper impressively defeated the Bandits' top scorer Chris Schramm in Heat 12, and Legault also made an encouraging debut especially bearing in mind his lack of pre-season practice. BERWICK 55: Chris Schramm 14+2, Michal Makovsky 13+2, Joachim Kugelmann 9, Adrian Rymel 8+1, Piotr Dym 6+1, Simon Cartwright 5+2, r/r for Adam Pietraszko. SHEFFIELD 40: Andre Compton 11, Sean Wilson 10, Paul Cooper 6+2, Ricky Ashworth 6, Ben Wilson 3, Kyle Legault 3, Richard Hall 1+1.
