SHEFFIELD PIRTEK TIGERS took a big step towards the Young Shield semi-finals with a 57-37 demolition of Edinburgh at Owlerton. Skipper Sean Wilson was in magnificent form with a 15-point maximum and both Andre Compton and Ricky Ashworth were unbeaten by an opposing rider to give Tigers a handy lead for the return leg. But it was only a flurry of points in the last four races that boosted their hopes, after a tenacious start by the Monarchs, who suffered the hammer blow of losing star man Ross Brady after just two rides with a recurrent ankle injury. Tigers led by just eight points after 11 races, with just one 5-1 in the bag. But after that it was one-way traffic as Sheffield won all four remaining races, including three five-point hauls. TIGERS: Sean Wilson 15, Andre Compton 13+2, Ricky Ashworth 12, Kyle Legault 8+1, Richard Hall 5+2, Ben Wilson 2, Mark Thompson 2. EDINBURGH: Theo Pijper 10, Daniel Nermark 9+1, Rusty Harrison 9, Matthew Wethers 5+1, William Lawson 2+2, Ross Brady 2, Robert Ksiezak 0.

Final event at Action park!
First Division. A MAIN: 1. Jeremy Parsons. 2. Adam Mittl. 3. Casey Donholt. 4. Craig Estelle B MAIN; 1. Mike Buman. 2. Brian Hollenbeck. 3. Russ Cornell. 4. Merle Craven (DNS) Second Division. 1. Jesse Diem. 2. Katalin Davis. 3. Kendall Brooks Jr. 4. Andy Crawford. Third Division. 1. Cole Farewell. 2. Joe Nickel Jr. Speedway. 1. Alex Mann. PeeWee. 1. Zach Ostrander. 2. Cassie Hollenbeck. A beautiful evening. The Division 1 heats were quite intense with young Mike Buman and Casey Donholt all over each other all night. A very strong showing for Merle Craven, doing a lot of hard driving outside work and winning a heat against some major players. A mishap and knee injury in his 5th round left him unable to start his main. All were pleased that Craig Estelle made the last race of the season. Work, family, and managment of the Square Deal Club races had kept him from Speedway this year. A four way run-off was necessary for the last two slots in the A main between Estelle, Hollenbeck, Donholt, and Buman all tied in points. The A main lined up with Adam Mittl attired in suit and tie. A very close gate and first lap with Jeremy getting out and the "Dark Horse" didn't look back (as they say). This being an NSRA EAST COAST SPEEDWAY SERIES event, all riders recieved ECSS points. Track Championship results will be posted in a couple of days. Thanks to all who supported Donavan and my little project with Action Park this year, riders and especially the track workers, gate people, scorers, concession stand people. It just wouldn't have worked with out your help and the hard core Speedway Fans that showed up for every race. Regards, Dave Richards

Tigers win but Kyle crashes!!
SHEFFIELD PIRTEK TIGERS boosted their chances of a top three Premier League finish, on Thursday evening, with a hard fought 48-41 over Berwick at Sheffield. The result also confirms Rye House as champions as the Bandits have now completed their 28 league meetings and are still short of the Rockets points tally. The meeting was overshadowed by an horrific crash in Heat 7 when, the vastly experienced Dane, Tom P Madsen went underneath Tigers youngster Benji Compton and both riders hit the safety fence at high speed before being thrown like rag dolls across the track. Early reports suggest Compton could have a pelvic injury and Madsen was complaining of leg damage and was taken to hospital also wearing a neck brace. Kyle Legault, another member of Sheffield's young guns, was also involved in a horrifying crash in heat 2 when trying to avoid the fallen Compton and he was sent head over heels before crashing to the ground. He managed to complete four races before pulling out of the meeting. Sheffield never looked like losing the match despite the best efforts of their former favourite Scott Smith, riding at reserve for the border club. TIGERS: Ricky Ashworth 11, Andre Compton 10+1, Sean Wilson 8, Ben Wilson 8, Richard Hall 6+3, Kyle Legault 5, Benji Compton 0. BERWICK: Scott Smith 14+2, Paul Thorp 10, Adam Pietraszko 10, Mikal Makovsky 3, Chris Schramm 2+1, Carl Wilkinson 1+1, Tom P Madsen 1.

Jeff Orosz takes the final final!!
"jumpin" Jeff Orosz kept his head and went on to take the season finale, final at Welland. On a track that took much work to make raceable, the Port Colborne native looked in complete control on his way to another win in his career. The only hic-cup was a "jump" start in his heat as the starting gate had been demolished in an earlier 250 junior race. This horrific accident sent Jesse Phipps to hospital with a suspected broken leg and wrist. The 30 minute delay added to the track prep delay and caused the main race programme to start at 7.5o. Racing was over by 10.30 though and much of the large crowd stayed to , first, enjoy great fireworks and then a live band in the beer garden. Final placings were 1. Jeff Orosz. 2. Rob Dixon. 3. Aarron Hesmer. 4. Drew kehoe. 5. John Kehoe. (fell) . Division 2 was 1. John Bennett. 2. Tim Murray. 3. Phil Small.

The A main yeilded a great duel between Jeremy Parsons who has been undefeated for several events at Action Park and Adam Mitl. Adam gave a little preview of what was to come when he out gated the Dark Horse and led Jeremy for a few laps when they met in round 4 only to get out of the groove in a demanding turn two letting Jeremy by. Adam made an outstanding lap long outside drive around Jeremy for the Main win in one of the best races of the year. New Rider Joe Nickel drove up from Virginia with a brand spankin new 889 Jawa. In his first major Speedway atempt made a very good showing, improving with almost every lap. Complements to ALL the riders who put on a great show on a high traction surface with no major incidents. Thanks also to several of our "high profile" Canadian friends (Len Dilon, Kevin Robillard and Brian Long, I think) who made the trek to see some Southern Tier, NY SPEEDWAY

Aarron Hesmer takes the champagne!!
This day bought a large $2500.00 purse from the Paris Fair board to entice many a Division 1 rider to leave not only heavier with their trophy, but with a full wallet! Current Canadian High points holder Aaron Hesmer was poised to win no matter what! He came with a vision and a goal to be the first one over the line and lift that coveted Division 1 Championship prize. The rider turnout was a perfect blend of the top riders from both Ontario, Quebec and Michigan, US. The largest crowd ever to see an event at Paris was not disappointed whatsoever! From heat 1 through to the final race, non-stop action was presented and enjoyed by everyone! One of the best races of the day and the fastest (17), was between two of our top riders, Nick Fafard and Aaron Hesmer went 4 laps in 52 seconds, battling it out side by side, squeezing each other out of position and jumping back in. Nick amazingly holding on when his bike lifted on the back straight to make his final move to pass Aaron. Brilliant stuff! The old battle between Phil Small and "Big" John Perry was evident this day, "Big" John taking the total heat points away from Phil, but not without some close battling and a sliding off by John. These 2 always provide a great show and it was very evident in the roar of delight from the crowd after each heat! Chris Houtby, Doug Beaumont and Bart Moskala moved up to Division 1 racing for this day and all did a great job of keeping up with the pace and provided their own shows for the crowd. They all did an exceptional job and fully deserved the actuation, they got from the crowd. Following the Saturday's events, Bart was received with a huge cheer from the crowd, when Color man Andy "Iceman" Harris introduced him followed by an in-the pits interview. Also in the pits assisting this new Polish sensation was another Polish great, the one and only Bogden Muszynski, great to see these two working closely together! Jeff Orosz, Gary Hesmer and Joe Heye all rode hard and fast this day. They ran their machines hard as well as, themselves. All produced close hard battles showing what great respect they have for each other! One of the best moves that even the recipient would say that he had taught his son , would have been the move by Joe Heye on Kyle Legault's father "Hot-Dog" Freddy. In a points run-off for a final 4th place, Joe Heye pulled the classic Freddy taught move on Freddy himself!!!! Visions of Kyle last year performing this underneath diving move were very evident when Joe made one last effort to get passed Freddy, superb to see Joe complete this so well and a thumbs up from Freddy when they left the track. Fred Legault showed the crowd today what a great rider and sportsman he is! This brings us to the last race of the day, the 'BIG" one! Lining up for the final at the tapes were, Aaron Hesmer, Joe Heye, Nick Fafard and "Jumping" Jeff Orosz. From the tapes Aaron flew in front and unfortunately for Nick, his momentum was cut down when Jeff slightly hooked in front of him, Joe Heye flew around the outside , but the aggressive Jeff immediately passed him. Nick having no part of being last flew past both Joe and Jeff to chase the hard pushing Hesmer! Nick on the last bend was literally driving into the bend to gain as much momentum as he could, but a smart and controlled Hesmer blocked his path and came over the line a winner! An absolutely and superb end to a fantastic day of racing and a well deserved and solid performance from Aaron Hesmer

Big weekend in Paris!!
With the Summer coming very quickly to a close, the annual celebration is being held at Paris Fairgrounds once again this year. The weather outlook is perfect and with all the Hurricane problems far behind us, we anticipate a perfect temperature for our speedway events on both Saturday and Sunday! This Saturday, sees the Division 2 and Division 3 speedway Championship for 2005. Sign-in for the riders will be at 2:00pm and the racing starts at 4:00pm sharp! (Note: all riders allow plenty of time for the traffic and crowds to enter the track etc on both days...) The event will see many if not all our riders battling it out to see who win lift that coveted trophy! To add to the mix, Division 1 races will be included in this program to add a taster for the Sunday show! With a great crowd spectating this event, it looks to be a winner from the word go! Many regular supporters will know the seasonal battles that have been on-going throughout the speedway season and we are sure that these will give some great highlights to the day's events! Sunday will see rider sign-in at 4:00pm and racing of the Division 1 spectacular at 6:00pm. The event is sponsored by the Paris Fair and with a $2,500 purse, many riders will come away very happy. With a great selection of riders both days, the crowd will see the 'greatest show on earth. Good luck to all riders both at Paris and action Park east, (Saturday 3rd,) for the east coast national.
Tigers win at home 65-30 !!!
SHEFFIELD PIRTEK TIGERS were in the maximum mood as they demolished Somerset at Owlerton. Three of their riders were unbeaten by an opponent as Sheffield boosted their hopes of a top three Premier League finish. Sean Wilson, Andre Compton and Richard Hall all recorded maximums and fast emerging reserve Kyle Legault dropped only one point. There was a negative aspect to the meeting, however, when Ricky Ashworth was thrown from his machine at high speed in his last outing. The popular Mancunian was heading for a fourth straight win in heat 12 when he locked up and landed awkwardly. He was taken to hospital for observation after the meeting as he was complaining of dizzy spells with concussion the most likely outcome.Somerset were a well beaten side from the early stages of the meeting and, in truth, put up very little resistance. It was Compton and Sean Wilson who teamed up in heats 13 and 15 for maximums which piled on the misery for the Rebels who made the long journey back to Highbridge a well beaten side. TIGERS: Sean Wilson 14+1, Andre Compton 13+2, Kyle Legault 11, Richard Hall 9+3, Ricky Ashworth 9, Ben Wilson 5+2, Paul Cooper 4+1. SOMERSET: Chris Mills 10, Magnus Zetterstrom 8, Paul Fry 6+2, Glenn Cunningham 5, Simon Walker 1, Jamie Smith 0.
